Who We Are

The American Fire Lighter Company was founded in 2007 by brothers Todd and Chad Keehfus.

Growing up with a love of camping and the outdoors, especially sharing stories with their family and friends around the campfire, Todd and Chad wanted to solve the age old problem of lighting a fire and how to avoid scrounging for kindling, scouring through the trash for old newspapers, or even buying starter logs that clogged your chimney...

Always the inventors, they quickly went to work redesigning the old CapeCod FireLighter with the goal of manufacturing and packaging their new product in the United States of America.

Their belief and conviction in creating, supporting, and buying American made products is evident in every detail, from their clean burning Candle and Lamp Oil manufactured specifically for them in Upstate New York, to the artistically hand crafted stoneware Jars made in Zanesville, Ohio - the “Stoneware Capital of the World.”

Today, they bring to you the American Fire Lighter Company; providing you with a clean-burning, beautifully hand crafted American made Fire Lighter.
